Sarasota Ballet Season Opener and Lunch on the Asolo Mezzanine with Ballet Director Iain Webb

Join us on Sunday, Oct. 29, for a captivating matinee performance of “The Secret Garden,” preceded by a catered lunch on the Asolo Theater mezzanine and a talk by Ballet Director Iain Webb.

Cost: 32/33

This alumni get-together has two parts, and you are welcome to attend either or both. The main event is a Sarasota Ballet performance of the children’s novel, “The Secret Garden,” published in England early in the 20th century. Choreographer Will Tuckett and composer Jeremy Holland-Smith, themselves British, have re-imagined the story as a charming dance-theater-puppetry ballet.

We have a block of balcony tickets at the discounted price of $32 for the 2 p.m. matinee on the main stage at the FSU Center for the Performing Arts (also known as the Asolo Theater), 5555 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

Before the performance, we will enjoy a catered lunch ($33) at noon on the Asolo’s mezzanine. Sarasota Ballet Director Iain Webb will join us. A former dancer with the Royal Ballet in London who is starting his second decade with the Sarasota Ballet, he is widely credited with moving the regional company to international stature, with rave reviews in major cities and major publications. He will share insights and answer questions about the performance and the company – and offer his vision of the company as part of Sarasota’s vibrant cultural life.
